WEBINAR #39 Women in College Coaching and Administration – The Double Standard

A stellar line-up of attorneys, coaches, and academic experts discussed the subtle and not so subtle ways in which a double standard is applied to female coaches and athletics administrators from evaluation of performance to compensation, hiring, and termination decisions. The most current statistics on female administrator and coach employment at the college level, including female coach employment in men’s college sports, were examined. Panelists also examined data on what happens to women who have brought lawsuits in this space – cost of settlements, damages, and litigation to institutions — and who is paying these costs as well as the personal toll of litigation. Female litigants disappearing from the college labor market with regard to future employment was expressed as a concern and whether there are solutions to these issues.
